Thanks for visiting Ecosystem Restoration Camps Australia. We are about to embark on a journey to rejuvenate, rehydrate and revegetate our continent. We were inspired by the work of John Lui and the five Ecosystem Restoration Camps currently happening around the world.
Australia is an ancient continent and our soils are some of the oldest in the world. With time comes nutrient depletion through wind and water erosion, and most recently, through intensive farming practices. In just 200 years, the large scale clearing, tilling, burning and spraying has left our soils in an alarming state with many farms needing to use more and more artificial inputs to grow any produce at all. Not only that, but many of our remaining vegetated areas are isolated pockets throughout a sea of uninhabitable fields and development, making it had for species to maintain genetic diversity and lowering their resilience to change, change that we already know is coming.
The goal of these camps is to pour life back into the soil, connect people back to nature and inspire others to help in healing the land. The restoration camps are a chance for anyone and everyone to get their hands dirty and build resilience back into our environment. We hope to see you there!
